Polls solidarity (25/01/2010)

From today, the Plaza de Santo Domingo has a stand for citizens who wish to make their contributions to help the victims of the tragic earthquake occurred on 12 January in Haiti.

Murcia City Council, through the departments of Social Welfare and Development Cooperation, which direct and Maria del Carmen Remigio Lopez Pelegrin, has installed a total of 150 ballot boxes in Citizens Advice offices of Murcia and districts, centers women and elders, and cultural centers.

There were also plans to organize various events in solidarity with the nursing homes and centers for women, such as a solidarity concert, prom, etc.

Remember that the Deputy Mayor of Social Welfare and Equality Policies into an agreement with various associations and institutions (Caritas, Famdif, Spanish Association Against Cancer, ONCE, Fesormu, Federation of Senior Citizens Centres in the municipality of Murcia, Federation Women's Center of Murcia and FEAFES, among others) to expand the network of supportive polls.

In addition to the polls set up in different parts of the municipality, the City of Murcia has enabled an account number for citizens who wish to enter their donations, which will go to Caritas Haiti actions.

The account number is 7003167 2043 000 1222 00.

Haiti faces are working from the beginning, and is primarily distributing food and all essential goods that people need to survive after the tragic earthquake.

The figures are more than 100,000 deaths, nearly 200,000 injured and more than 1,000,000 people homeless.

The earthquake hit the nation's capital, Port au Prince, and also the cities of Jacmel, Carrefour and Leogane.
