"Three years with the Romea closed and not a single explanation" (20/01/2010)

UPyD, given the delays in the rehabilitation and improvement of the Teatro Romea Murcia urges the City Council, in particular, the councilor for culture Fátima Barnuevo, to assume its responsibility and make clear the real situation of the works this emblematic space in the city of Murcia.

Moreover, from this training, calls for a definitive estimate of openness, dilations following sustained periods and inconsistent information received from the various bodies responsible for management.

The City Council must also act to address the rumors of privatization, and inform the management model that intends to apply in the new stage of Romea.

For Anabel Diaz, spokesman for the Local Election Committee of Murcia, is clear: "The total budget amounts to 4.5 billion euros, and the citizens deserve an apology and explanations."

This political party requires accurate information on the reasons for the delay and the actual situation of the project, both technically and financially: it is okay to play with the public.

As with any project, it is understandable that the completion dates should be so flexible as variable scope.

In short, UPyD expresses disagreement and rejection of occult politics surrounding the actions of a project as importate for the city of Murcia.

It is outrageous that local government has not sought primarily the completion of works and the reopening of the main theater of the region, if this city really sucks to be European Cultural Capital.

The local spokesman "It is obvious contempt for the culture of popular government, for in these three years has not enabled an alternative place to meet this need."
