The UCAM takes a minute of silence for the earthquake victims in Haiti (18/01/2010)

The University held tomorrow Tuesday 19 January at 11:00 and 18:30 Masses paths in support of victims.

The UCAM has started this morning, and until 22 January, a Week of Solidarity with the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti.

Among the planned events included the celebration this morning at 11:00 in a moment of silence accompanied by a prayer for the victims and victims of this disaster, on the campus of Jeronimos.

This gesture will be repeated this afternoon at 18: 30 hours.

The Catholic University held tomorrow Tuesday 19 January at 11.00 and 18.30, trails Masses in memory of the victims.

Religious ceremonies will take place in the temple of the monastery.

Moreover, the president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, has made an appeal to the university community, extended family members to deposit their donations in boxes for this purpose will be placed throughout campus with the goal of send this money to the victims.

Also, the president has informed the opening of a specific current account in the Caja del Mediterráneo (CAM) with the number 2090 0346 11 0040049018 for all those wishing to make a donation to Caritas Haiti can do it, and thus alleviate the suffering of those affected by the earthquake.

José Luis Mendoza explained that the device helps the UCAM is coordinated through the International Institute of Charity and Volunteer John Paul II who heads Antonio Alcaraz.

Benefit dinner and charity market

Actions in support those affected by the earthquake in Haiti, also include a frugal charity dinner to be held on Wednesday 20 January at the restaurant Abellard Cartagena, organized in collaboration with the association Hostec, and installation, in Cloister Monasterio, a charity market.

The objective of this initiative is to raise funds through the sale of objects made, both by members of the university community and all those interested in collaborating with this important and necessary humanitarian work.

It should be noted that the various solidarity activities will take place throughout the week until Friday 22 January.
