ArtFutura presents its twentieth anniversary with a program of projects and ideas about video games, design and digital animation, a magical encounter between art and new technologies.

The audiovisual program ArtFutura 2009 is shared by fourteen cities: Alicante, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Cadiz, Gijon, Granada, Madrid, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, Pamplona-Huarte, Segovia, Valladolid, Vigo and Zaragoza.

The program has more than eight hours of material divided into 11 projections: a special animated works selected from the 20-year-ArtFutura ("The Best of the Rest"), new selections of 3D in Spain, documentaries on the work Chris Landreth, PES and Digital Kitchen, two retrospective programs and two new sections: Reality Bites (dedicated to the new documentaries) and Future Graphics.

High impact images with the latest contributions in the field of digital culture and creativity.

IMPROV EVERYWHERE

The action is a concentration of people with their mp3 players, wanting to have fun and let go.

Improv Everywhere is a New York group founded in 2001 by Charlie Todd, with the idea of offering performance and happening scenes of chaos and joy, before the gaze of passersby.

Improv has over 72,000 friends on Facebook and videos with 55 million views on YouTube.

Their performances or practical jokes ranging from 200 people freeze in the Central Station in New York to represent a spontaneous musical in the street.

Are already 85 "missions" with thousands of participants and a single objective: create hilarious, transmit sharp social commentary and, above all, fun.

3D FUTURE SHOW (1 hour)

The 2009 edition once again brings us the selection of the best 3D works produced in the last twelve months.

The 3DFutura Show includes everything every year since the most spectacular pieces produced by major studios, to small wonders created by independent artists from around the world.

Chris Landreth (30 minutes)

Considered the most important artist in the new field of digital animation, Chris Landreth has a new album "The Spine" award at SIGGRAPH and Ars Electronica.

This documentary includes their classics and "The Spine".

DIGITAL KITCHEN (30 minutos)


Documental sobre el trabajo de los famosos estudios Digital Kitchen.

Con oficinas en Nueva York, Los Ángeles y Seatle, Digital Kitchen son valorados por sus conceptos innovadores en diseño de webs, publicidad y contenidos digitales.

Han trabajado para Apple, Nike, HBO… y entre sus cabeceras para series están las de “Dexterâ€, “Six Feet Ander†y “True Bloodâ€.


REALITY BITES (30 minutos)


La animación abre nuevas maneras de afrontar el género documental.

Desde que en los años 50 Faith y John Hubley animasen la conversación no guionizada de sus hijos, y ganasen un oscar (Moonbird), diversos autores (Nick Park, Peter Lord, Tim Webb…) han usado la animación para expresar subjetivamente la realidad.

Este año Suecia toma el relevo de Inglaterra con autores como Hanna Heilborn y Jonas Odell, que, a diferencia de sus predecesores, apuestan por la animación infográfica en esta fructífera mezcla de géneros.

 

PES (30 minutes)

Adam Pesapane (PES), American director, is for many one of the best specialists in the art stop motion.

His short-animations have won awards at numerous festivals and screenings million times on YouTube.

ArtFutura presents a collection of his best work including little-known pieces, but no less spectacular.

3D IN SPAIN (1 hour)

3D Award in Spain is the most important call in our country intended to reward the best works in 3D animation and special effects produced over the last year for companies, students and independent artists.

The program includes the finalists vying for the prize, decided by the votes of the audience.

Obras especialmente seleccionadas de las proyecciones de los 20 años de ArtFutura.

Incluyendo trabajos muy especiales y poco vistos de Buzz, Resfest y el ArtFutura Show.


FUTURA GRAPHICS (1 hora)


Nuevo programa audiovisual que estrena AF09.

Animaciones digitales y mas allá: cortos, virales, videoclips y otras piezas que tienen en común la búsqueda de nuevas estéticas y lenguajes.

Desde producciones de estudiantes hasta encargos a conocidos estudios; la selección de piezas combina en su factura técnicas manuales e imagen real con infografía.

Con trabajos de Evelin Lohbeck, Adam Berg, Michal Socha, Antón Setola, Tim Kail, Brandon Todd y otros.


CIBERMEDIA (30 minutos)


ArtFutura recupera dos programas producidos para sus ediciones de 1991 y 1992: Cibermedia y Mente Global.

Una visión retrospectiva a dos de sus más importantes ediciones.

Con la participación de Laurie Anderson, Mark Pellington (BUZZ), Brad DeGraf, Brenda Laurel, Tom DeFanti, Derrick de Kerckhove y otros.


MENTE GLOBAL (30 minutos)


Una visión retrospectiva de una de sus  más importantes ediciones con la participación de Kevin Nelly (editor de WIRED), Terence McKenna, Sherry Turkle, Rupert Sheldrake, Jim Blashfield y otros.
