"The City spends per capita less than a quarter of what is charged on taxes" as the PSOE (21/10/2009)

Note from PSOE:

The Socialist councilor Alfonso Navarro denounced the gap between what the City of Murcia collects in taxes and fees to citizens and what it invests in each of them.

Thus, Navarro reported that while each Murcia joined in 2008 in the municipal coffers an average of 549 euros in taxes and fees, investment per capita reached only the amount of 130 euros, as reflected in the General Account of last year.

Income from taxes

Revenue from City Hall in 2008-continues the mayor of the PSOE-through taxes and fees was distributed € 236,311.011 € 138,880.729 (direct taxes); € 24,975.320 (indirect taxes) and € 72,454,962 (fees and other income), which divided by the 430,000 inhabitants of the municipality results in an average per capita income of 549 €.

Investment expenditure

On the other hand, continues to Navarro, in the chapter on investment, the amount spent by the City Council in 2008 was € 56,043,585, amount spent through the chapters VI (actual investment) and VII (transfers of capital) budget municipal spending.

The result of that lump sum divided among the inhabitants of the municipality is 130 €.

"The data show the inability manager of PP and its irrelevance to promote, through the investment of public resources, the development of a truly productive economy in the municipality of Murcia," he concludes.
