Tropical Medicine Unit Murcia has been diagnosed in more than 600 patients with this disease, of which about 500 are undergoing or have already been treated and are tracked in the Unit.

Thus, along with Valencia, Catalonia and Madrid, Murcia is one of the Spanish regions with the highest incidence of Chagas disease, outside the endemic area.

During his appearance, the coordinator of the Department of Tropical Diseases, Malaria and Neglected Diseases of WHO, Jean Georges Jannin, welcomed the work being undertaken in the region to combat the disease, WHO said "is always ready to support such initiatives "and encouraged the public institutions and agencies to" continue to fight this evil. Chagas disease comes from the countries of South America, which is a major public health problems.
