The directors of Universities and Research Company, Salvador Marín, and of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, today presented the exhibition "Perspective, Science and Magic of representation 'which examines the integration between art and science, its historical and current, and its social impact.

This initiative, of which all citizens can enjoy in the Archaeological Museum of Murcia, from tomorrow until 10 January, has a marked playful and experimental and consists of the exhibition, educational workshops, a day of conferences and conducting a live view work by international artist Eduardo Relero.

'Perspective, Science and Magic of representation "shows the audience the remarkable relationship between art and science throughout history.

Reveals how the paths followed by artists since the Renaissance opened up new avenues for research in geometry, mathematics, physiology of vision and optics, to the birth of modern photography, as a thread following the so-called science of art, perspective.

Complementary way, explains how artists assimilated the scientific advances in their respective environments and adapted to the production of works of art.

Through a series of devices built by the University of Granada following the models provided by artists through bibliographical and pictorial documents (XVI-XIX), the exhibition offers an educational tour for six machines to draw and three cameras (dark light and portable), with which visitors can try out 'the artist's eye' and be surprised with the outcome of the sketch.

Among the machines, it highlights the Veil of Alberti and to draw Durer's glass.

These are tools to implement the geometry and drawing through a visual point insert that slides in a plane, and can solve the basic problem of perspective: fill only three-dimensional picture plane.

Also, the sample also has peep and anamorphosis.

The peep show is a box with a scene painted inside and front view captures the eye of one-dimensional.

Only through the peepholes that are on the sides, the eye is able to perceive three-dimensionality.

For its part, the anamorphic images are unrecognizable to the naked eye using only a tiny window, mirror or cylinders, or simply by an angle of vision, it is possible to reconstruct three-dimensional image.

Within this category, "Perspective, Science and Magic of representation ', features a reproduction of" The Medusa "by Caravaggio, in conical anamorphosis, the classic picture of" The Ambassadors "by Hans Holbein, a flat anamorphosis; and painting of the Argentine artist Eduardo Relero carried out in the lobby of the Archaeological Museum in the early days of the exhibition.
