In order to enhance the training of troops of the Prevention and Fire Fighting (SEIS), the City of Murcia has signed a collaboration agreement with the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Murcia (UMU), which will, among other actions, conduct practice on the premises of the Faculty.
The SEIS has an area for training and research which is responsible for planning, organizing, developing and delivering various training activities carried out in the group of firefighters, among which are: refresher courses, daily practices , exercises, seminars, testing, testing equipment and materials.
The reason why you signed the agreement with the School of Chemistry is that the training section also studies the competition services of fire fighting and casualties in the presence of hazardous materials, being necessary to carry out practical tests and demonstrations on fire behavior and dangerous materials.
This need leads to undertake these actions at specific facilities such as laboratories and classrooms equipped, as you have that option.
In addition to making use of the facilities for their practices and training courses, the SEIS is committed to provide a certain number and courses, seminars and lectures to University staff, participate in training activities and facilitate the use of facilities for fire Firefighting practices and use of specific material.
The schedule will be built along this year, will take place throughout 2010 and will address, among other things, courses on the theory and chemistry of fire and hazardous materials, plus it also will work on studies such as "Fire of a liquefied gas tanker," Sectoral studies on industries with high risk of explosion, "" Phenomenon BLEVE ", etc.
