Development cooperation and promote the conditions for gender equality is the goal of the City of Murcia, explained yesterday the Councillor for Social Welfare Policy and Equality, María del Carmen Pelegrin, at the roundtable in which participants on 'Cooperation and gender ', one of the events organized for the week of Cooperating.

Pelegrín stressed the need to consider the differences between men and women and to establish mechanisms that tend to modify the conditions of inequality.

Murcia City Council carries out its development cooperation policy in view of the defense and promotion of equal opportunities between men and women, no sex discrimination and the promotion of human development from a gender equity.

Councilmember emphasized that projects funded by the council, within the activities of the Service for Development Cooperation, incorporating the gender perspective in its objectives and methods of work and always takes into account the needs and specific situations of women to ensure that women have access to health resources, educational and economic.

In addition, Maria del Carmen Pelegrin visited the photo exhibition on cooperation and awareness projects that can be visited until October 3 at the Cultural Center of the Barrio del Carmen.
