The Governing Council has approved an agreement between the Public Transport in the Region of Murcia, under the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, and the Passenger Transport Company of Murcia SLU, to fund activities aimed at improving promotion of public transport and university, for a total of 645,000 euros.
The objective of this agreement is to increase urban mobility of university students on the campus of Espinardo, University of Murcia, with improved infrastructure and reduced fare unit from the town of Murcia.
To this end, has been reduced by 61 percent the bill, to 0.45 euros, thanks to this grant and also provides the Directorate General of Universities of the Autonomous Community.
In addition, the aid will go to the application of UNIBON during the current academic year, a tariff system for the university community that allows an unlimited number of city and intercity travel in the city of Murcia with a single ticket costs 20 euros per month.
This is one of the three bonds of this kind in Spain cheaper, allowing an average monthly savings of 41 euros for users.
This pricing system, which has led to the creation of more than 500,000 travel by bus since it came into operation a year ago, has been welcomed with interest by more than 4,700 members of the university community, so that the regional government has considered renewal of the agreement signed in 2008 for its implementation.
Through these measures is provided to university students and their right to mobility and facilitates the optimization of resources, greater energy savings, improved security when traveling to college campuses in the region and the preservation of the environment.
