Public participation to improve the environmental quality of cities (02/09/2009)

The Councillor for Environment and Urban Quality, Adela Martinez-Cache, the Councillor for Youth and Employment, María Dolores Sánchez, the Territorial President of CAM, Angel Martinez, and the Director of Social Work of the CAM, Juan José Mouliaá, participated this morning in the exchange "With energy climate change 'that meets these days at 35 young people from five different countries in the CEMACAM (Torre Guil) to discuss the environment, climate change and the effect emissions.

The Councillors and those responsible for the CAM have attended the conference "Rally to the environment ', which has offered technical Youth Service of the City of Murcia José Luis Marco.

In his presentation, Marco commitment to public participation to improve the environmental quality of cities, emphasizing the importance of active involvement of citizens and bring the proposals to small areas, since people seem to be centered in the closest way ( street, neighborhood, etc).

The objective of this project is to extract ideas on how you can from associations, schools and youth groups to promote personal behavior committed to the environment.

Participants will become 'Ecolíderes' to be responsible for raising awareness and implementing initiatives that help stop global warming, providing local solutions.

Since the public plays a key role because it emits 60% of emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

Participating youth come from Murcia, Turin (Italy), Mecklenburg (Germany), Slovenia and Kokkola (Finland).

This initiative is funded by the Youth Programme of the European Commission.

The theme of the exchange is the need for young people feel committed to the environment and act in line, reinventing forms of communication to convey the message to others.

Also, inquire into the causes of global warming solutions.

Among the activities planned during the celebration of this project is attending conferences on climate change and environmental education centers, visits to solar energy installations in the municipality as a center of alternative energy, visit a nature reserve and conducting workshops good environmental practices.
