The City Council presents the logo of Murcia as a candidate city for European Capital of Culture 2016 (31/08/2009)

The logo symbolizes the coexistence of three cultures, with the interlocking shapes of the tower of the cathedral, the Moorish arches and sun spots, which resemble those of the Star of David.

The colors used in the logo design are yellow, as a characteristic tone of the sun and the light of Murcia, the red seal of the city, and blue, the river running through it and water that gives life to your garden .

In addition, the arches form the MU syllable, short of the city, and the waves that penetrate the letter 'u' symbolize its Mediterranean character.
