Local Police publishes brochures with recommendations to prevent burglary in summer (02/07/2009)

The Department of Safety and Traffic, directed by Nuria Fuentes, has published 21,000 brochures with recommendations for citizens in order to prevent theft at his home during the holidays.

The leaflets are being distributed and at municipal (city halls, libraries, cultural centers, etc..) In the Office of Citizen Services Mobile Local Police and through the District Police.

During July and August many of the citizens to move to another place to enjoy your vacation.

These movements generate a significant decrease in population by creating the right conditions to facilitate the activities of persons involved in certain criminal specialties such as household burglary.

For this reason, the Department of Safety and Circulation has published brochures with tips to prevent burglaries in homes.

The main recommendation is to notify the local police, calling 092, any suspicion, if any noise or noticing something strange, do not try to verify your suspicions, call the local police, National Police and Civil Guard.

Tips Home:

1) Check that all possible entryways are secured, including windows to patios.

2) Do not leave visible signs to suggest that the house is unoccupied.

Order a neighbor collect mail from your mailbox.

3) If you leave a spare set of keys, do not do at strategic locations.

Leave them to someone you trust.

4) Do not discuss your absence with strangers, or leave notes indicating when you expect to return.

5) There are different banks during your vacation can take care of their valuables.

Do not ever leave home, nor leave money.

6) It is left to a trusted neighbor address and contact telephone number during your stay away from home.

7) It is possible to install a programmable clock on and off the light, radio or television, at different times, simulating their stay at home.

8) Take an inventory of personal effects, indicating make, type and serial number and try to mark their valuables.
