The UCAM pays posthumous tribute to Professor of Physiology at the University of Granada, José Mataix (26/02/2009)

Nutrition expert, Guillermo Rodriguez, spoke about being a good nutritionist

UCAM today held a posthumous tribute in memory of Professor of Physiology and nutritionist at the University of Granada, José Mataix, recently deceased.

The event, organized by the Diploma in Human Nutrition and Dietetics at the Catholic University, paths included lectures by the Professor of Nutrition at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Rosa Ortega and expert of the Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology 'José Mataix ', University of Granada, Guillermo Rodriguez, who said that `the power should be a pleasure and not an obligation."

The director of the Diploma in Human Nutrition and Dietetics UCAM, José María Cayuela, José Mataix described as a great professional and a human being lovable.

"The serious and rigorous work of Professor Mataix constitutes an incentive for all of us, that drives us to work harder and hope in everything related to nutrition."

Academic Secretary's Certification and former student of the professor, Pilar Zafrilla, described it as simple and close and deep affection for the School of Nutrition, Catholic, which was an Honorary Professor.

Then, the nutritionist at the University of Granada, Guillermo Rodriguez, delivered the lecture 'How to be a good nutritionist. "

Rodriguez warned of the rise in obesity in Spain blamed the increasing sedentary lifestyle and changing dietary habits.

"The remote control, television and video game promotes a sedentary lifestyle and this leads to what Professor Mataix defined as Homo obesus.

The teacher also said that "a rational and balanced intake of nutrients is crucial to achieve a healthy state."

In conclusion, Professor of Nutrition at the University Complutense, Rosa Ortega, spoke on `The new challenges of the Nutritionist."

Nutrition Ortega claimed the status of science and emphasized as objectives of the course "meet the new nutritional problems and improve the education of people in this regard."
