The House approved the implementation of the Holy Spirit Urban Project (24/02/2009)

After months of intensive preparatory work, the regular plenary session of February will approve the implementation of Urban Neighborhood Project of the Holy Spirit Espinardo.

The council of European Programmes, Fatima Barnuevo, stated that 'with the approval, the government team will finally achieve the objectives it had set in the Project to fight for social cohesion, development and economic stimulus in the neighborhood. "

In this way, consistent with promotion of municipal policies implemented in Espinardo and fostering the creation of new facilities and public spaces throughout the city, supplementing the impetus given to an area where, among other recent measures , has promoted the construction of 28 homes that will soon be joined by others 9, and the usual significance of the arrival of the tram.

Barnuevo wanted to clarify that when he met the call for submission of project "we work hard and together with all the neighborhood associations and groups, as well as each of the municipal areas, convinced that the benefits generated by the implementation of this project absolutely agree with our philosophy of government: to fight for integration, social dynamics and the eradication of any form of exclusion. "

Also explained that the joint and coordinated action of the different municipal areas with the social groups involved multiplying the value of the results to be obtained.

Following the presentation of the project referred to the January 30, 2008, and subsequent communication of the adoption, in mid June, the Ministry of Economy and Finance to only two of the municipalities in the region vying for the same last September, the Directorate General for Community Funds informed all municipalities of Spain that it was necessary to draft a convention prior to the execution of the project, establishing as a condition for signing the implementation of management manuals and technical procedures , administrative and financial aspects of all axes to be developed over the next six years.

That agreement sets out the functions of the Municipality of Murcia as an intermediate body and collects the seven strategic lines that bring together the sixteen main measures included in the project:

Strategy 2: Information Society

Strategy 3: Improving the urban environment

Strategy 4: Improved energy efficiency

Strategic Line 5: Social programs, social inclusion and citizen participation

Strategic Line 6: Development of the economy and improving employment

Strategic Line 7: Management and monitoring.

Barnuevo has announced that now begins the implementation phase, the Urban Project will be presented not only to all associations and groups that made contributions in the drafting stage, but few will want to incorporate and generally to all residents of the area.

Moreover, the council of European Programmes indicated that the first steps will be aimed at local matching, among others, will house an office where neighbors can learn about the project, while the first actions will be framed within the core of social inclusion.

In conclusion, Fátima Barnuevo wanted emphasizes that this project is a true reflection of local politics led by Miguel Ángel Cámara led to the implementation of integrated sustainable urban development by addressing its different aspects: culture, education, urban planning, generation green spaces and public amenities, social integration and gender equality, economic development and information society.
