The University of Murcia and Underwater Electronics Corporation created a Chair for the development of free software (04/02/2009)

The University of Murcia and Underwater Electronics Corporation (SAES) today signed a collaboration agreement for the creation of a Chair to be as objective the development of free software.

The director of the Office of Transfer of Research Results of the University, Fernando Martin, said the figure of the Chair will allow the establishment of a stable structure for the development of this work in collaboration with the company in Cartagena, dates back to years ago.

Martin added that this partnership is now strengthened by the agreement will generate more knowledge and involvement in projects more research staff, including trainees.

For its part, the CEO of SAES, Antonio Cordero, said many of the engineers that the company has been formed at the University of Murcia, adding that projects to be undertaken by the Chair will work to achieve productivity and quality "getting better".
