Community and Murcia City Council create a permanent institutional framework for cooperation in public transport (29/09/2008)

Promote and improve public transport is the main objective of the City of Murcia Autonomous Community with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding has been signed this morning at the Palacio de San Esteban between the Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, and the mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara.

The Public Transport Authority, an agency of the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, and the city of Murcia undertake in this Memorandum of Understanding, to develop the technical and legal frameworks needed to cooperation between government and the other agencies and companies that take part in collective passenger transport in the city of Murcia.

In recent years, the municipality of Murcia and its catchment area have experienced a significant growth of both its population and economic activity, resulting in increased mobility, both pedestrian and road traffic, which requires close collaboration between the two governments aimed to provide the solutions necessary to reduce the impact of increased traffic and mobility needs in the city.

The Autonomous Community of Murcia and the City agree to take the necessary measures to coordinate economic, technical and administrative to optimize transportation in Murcia, through the Public Transport Authority.
