'La Gran Via', a baroque carousel as a parable of the twentieth century (28/09/2008)

For the first time ever enter into harmonious agreement the "tool" more representative of the last century, the internal combustion engine in many of its variants and the most unique sound tradition of the ancient Kingdom of Murcia, drums (Hellin, Mula and Agramón), metals and human voices, ie the skin, mineral and rational.

For an hour, all four lanes of the street will be occupied by as many lines of vehicles.

The two central lines are reserved for parked vehicles or fixed, ie for the usual manifestations of everyday life: vintage cars, buses, garbage trucks, street cleaning and private cars.

The other two are for moving vehicles: Firefighters, Local and National Police, Guardia Civil, Civil Protection and ambulances will use their horns and lights, as well as stationary, and their custodial sirens.

Rotate in a counter clockwise, the ascendant, to display the axis that the three levels of musical involvement: floor, mezzanine and sky, as immortalized in his famous phrase Belluga to take possession of the Diocese of Cartagena.

Choral groups and metals, from different heights along the street indicate their presence at intervals prescribed by the composer.

Bicycles and skaters, as a 'crawler' and 'Dragonfly', with its freedom and subtlety, will provide a contrast to the mechanical firmness of the engines.

And adding to this, and above all, will populate the air blasts of whistles and fireworks streamed to culminate in the final four minutes of uninterrupted series of housings in red, amber and green (colors universally assigned to the traffic light governing traffic) from the Old Bridge and restricted public lighting along the street to give the idea of a concert hall, will serve as a spectacular backdrop and closing so bold and unforgettable spectacle.

In short, a carousel multiforme has its roots in the Roman tradition of the circus, was reinterpreted in the Baroque through the carriages naumachias to Piazza Navona, and now in our time and with the precedent of the eponymous master Chueca zarzuela and Valverde, we present the verdict of the auditor / viewer, attempting to evidence harmonic dispute between the past and the modernity he meant for the urban area of Murcia medieval opening of La Gran Vía
