The Regional Archives houses drawings Alberti, Sorolla and Fortuny, among others, the shows 'Grant Garcia Viñolas' (25/09/2008)

The exhibition hall hosts Regional Archive, from today until November 16, the exhibition 'Grant Garcia Viñolas.

Fundación Mapfre Collection ", consisting of drawings of different artists, among them Mariano Fortuny Sorolla, Daniel Vázquez Díaz, Rafael Alberti and Luis Gordillo.

The collection is mainly composed of drawings by Spanish artists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, and its second half.

Overall travel almost all the Spanish art of the last century until the eighties.

In 2002, Manuel Garcia Viñolas Mapfre Foundation donated a collection of drawings.

In appreciation and consideration, the Foundation created with your name an important aid for the cataloging and preservation of Latin American collections of drawings.

Manuel García Viñolas

Born in Murcia in 1911.

A tireless traveler, newspaper correspondent, CEO of Film Civil War, the cultural attaché in Brazil and Portugal and art critic, are just some of the occupations of his long and interesting life.

Vocational and curious collector, Garcia Viñolas became interested in drawing on paper when the work did not matter to most people.

The result of this great hobby is a superb collection of 160 drawings made, fitted together in a strange consistency, travel an important part of the twentieth century Spanish art.

The tour of this collection opens with a series of notes and academies of the late nineteenth century, signed by Fortuny Sorolla Pinney, among others, which together appear to signal through their sense cosmopolitan, modern, but traditional art, figurative and light calling all parts of the collection.

Most of the rest of the drawings are the work of contemporary artists from the collector who kept Viñolas García personal or circumstantial: Bores, Jose Caballero, Benjamín Palencia, Saenz de Tejada, Genaro Rafael Alberti Lahuerta or are some of the names of the generation of the 20 and 30 of the twentieth century as part of this set.

It closes, masterfully, with pictures of Manuel Viola, Juan Barjola, Luis Gordillo, Santos and Carmen Grau Lafferty, among others.

On the occasion of this generous donation has released two publications.

On the one hand, plural Portrait of Manuel Augusto García Viñolas, which includes a series of texts published earlier, seeking to promote, from different points of view, the figure of the collector.

It has also published a catalog that reproduces the entire collection donated by Manuel García Viñolas and has the valuable collaboration of Delfin Rodriguez and Veva Tusselo and Ivan Lopez Munuera.
