The President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pedro Alberto Cruz, today inaugurated the headquarters and exhibition space of the Fundación José García Jiménez for the promotion of culture and the arts.
An exhibition which aims to provide the best showing of the work of young artists, and the dissemination of new technologies applied to the creation of art.
As an inaugural exhibition of the new room, the Fundación José García Jiménez presents the series 'Identity Box', the artist Jesús Segura.
The author focuses his point during the individual and his search through thought, handling items with high doses of social criticism and a major confrontation with the very structures of art.
García Jiménez Foundation opens office in a local plaza Amores, a few meters from the Museum of Fine Arts.
It is a room of about 200 square meters, with ample space for exhibitions, as well as office and warehouse.
With the opening of this new cultural enclave, family and friends of José García Jiménez have wanted to pay tribute to a man who, beyond their well-known business, had one of the most important collections of avant-garde in Murcia.
Through García Jiménez Foundation, headed by José García Caballero, was created in May 2005 to commemorate the figure of the entrepreneur Murcia, who died in November 2004, aims to project the figure of the founder with a permanent program of exhibits and displays art.
The activities of the Foundation, the most important since its inception has been the annual National Contest of Artistic Creation, which enters its third year and is aimed at supporting young artists.
