More life for our seniors (23/09/2008)

The Deputy Mayor of Social Welfare, Maria del Carmen Pelegrin, September increased to full motion requesting the strengthening of the Social Centres for the Elderly as important means to facilitate, through its programs and activities, social relations and the improvement of quality of life of older people, on the occasion of the celebration on 1 October the International Day of Older Persons.

This text also calls on meeting the financial commitments and deadlines for implementation of Law Unit.

Currently there are 76 associations / Social Centres established in the municipality over: 12 in the town and 64 villages.

This extensive network, with over 30,000 members, is a reference for the elderly in the municipality, which have over 2008 with 169 courses, 200 training workshops and seminars and services such as physiotherapy and podiatry, running with 40 queries .

Three Day Care Centers that serve 100 users are an extraordinary remedy created under the leadership of Mayor House, which relieves the family when addressing older that require special attention.

Moreover, there are more than 1,500 people served through home help and more than 2,800 who receive home telecare service.
