The rector of the University of Murcia, José Antonio Cobacho, today opened the IX International Congress of the Spanish Association of Economic History, which will be developed until 12 September at the Faculty of Economics, Campus de Espinardo.
The meeting, which brings together more than three hundred teachers and researchers of Spanish and Latin American universities, has begun with a conference on inequality and economic backwardness in Latin American history, to be followed by the presentation of the magazine "Economic Mediterranean "and a panel discussion on economic history in Latin America.
Tomorrow will address issues such as regulation of the Spanish electricity industry, the economy of the game in Spain, the economic history of tourism, economic depression in Habsburg Spain and the Spanish and Portuguese redistributive policies.
The Congress is organized by the Spanish Economic History Association and the Area of Economic History and Institutions at the University of Murcia.
