Social Welfare provides 36.00 euros in aid for activities in nursing homes (10/09/2008)

Murcia City Council provides, through the Department of Social Welfare, a grant of 36,000 euros to the Federation of Senior Citizens' Centres in the municipality of Murcia for program development activities in 2008.

Encourage exercise, promote communication between people, promote creativity, expressiveness and imagination, and develop the artistic skills of the elderly are some of the objectives it seeks to achieve the Department of Social Welfare and Promoting Equality through their courses and activities for seniors.

Prominent among them gerontogimnasia, which targets people with greater physical impairment are capable of being self-sufficient.

There is also an art and crafts courses offering object decoration, painting on fabric, dried flowers, collage, decorative fans, pottery, spinning, tapestries, embroidered and restoration, painting, music, strings, choral music, dancing, beauty and health.

Physical and mental health of the elderly is a priority for the Department of Social Welfare and Promotion of Equality, which directs Maria del Carmen Pelegrin, and for this reason we offer workshops on tai chi that help balance body and mind and improve flexibility, memory training, self-esteem and communication skills, aesthetics and health, positive thinking and personal development and laughter therapy, which helps to maintain a state of mind.
