The Minister of Public Works notes that "the CIT will integrate Mediterranean Murcia on Axis International Combined Transport" (08/09/2008)

The Minister of Works, Housing and Transport, José Ballesta, said today, during his visit to the facilities of the new Centre Murcia Integrated Transport (CIT), the importance of this infrastructure will "for the integration of the Region in the Mediterranean Axis Network International Combined Transport. "

During his visit, the Minister was accompanied by Director General for Transport and Highways, Carmen Sandoval and managing director of the Public Transport Authority, Jose Guillen.

In particular, Ballesta met the works of more than 450,000 square meters Integrated Transportation Centre of Murcia which constitute the first phase of which will become the largest business park dedicated to the transport and logistics in the region of Murcia.

The owner of Public Works, Housing and Transport stated that "the CIT was born as a tool for structuring, strengthening and modernization of the transport sector and support to logistics and distribution in the Region of Murcia."

The Ministry of Public Works has invested three million euros in infrastructure.

In particular has provided 1.2 million euros for building the ILC, which have already acquired land thirty companies, and also house the headquarters of FROET, and a building designed to Customs, which is a level award 78 percent of existing space to expand into a second phase to the total of the 850,000 square meters which includes the final project.

In addition, the Ministry has funded the construction of the Center for Training and Services FROET, amounting to 1,020,000 euros, as well as parking of trucks, supplementing the budget of almost three million euros.

The CIT consists of two distinct areas: the service center to vehicles, persons and companies, which offers drivers areas where they can rest and grooming, as well as specific areas to check their vehicles and logistics center designed to accommodate operators of transport, storage, and transportation agencies, among others.

In this way, users of the infrastructure at their disposal a Vehicle Service Centre with secure parking of trucks, a service station, workshops, laundry and dealers as well as a Call Center Business.

According to the Minister Ballesta "the center seeks to enhance one of the engines of the regional economy, where every year the number of companies involved, contributing to the growth of the Community."

Ballesta also noted that "more than 8,500 firms based in the region who are involved in the transport and logistics are the basic support of almost 93 percent of the movement of goods in the region, something that felt like a much higher percentage the average for countries belonging to the European Union.

The Integrated Transport Centre is managed by the Integrated Transport Centre Society of Murcia, SA (CITMUSA), created for the promotion and site management, economic and CIT services, and is composed of the Regional Federation of Employers of Transport (FROET), the Instituto de Fomento Region de Murcia, Murcia City Council, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Murcia and Cajamurcia.
