'Async' establishes a dialogue between the art of present and past (04/09/2008)

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pedro Alberto Cruz, this morning, along with the Director of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, the project 'Async', to be held at the Museo de Bellas Artes de Murcia (Mubam) since October 2008 to December 2009.

This new initiative aims, in Cruz's words, "create a dialogue between contemporary artists and all artists in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, which correspond to different periods of art history.

It is a dialogue between past and present, between non-synchronous times, different and in some cases, antagonistic. "

Thus, "Asynchrony is working with new languages today, such as video art, installation and digital art, from a book, an author or a room of this museum."

The artists involved in this project, unique in the national scene, will be the Jaén Santiago Idáñez, "one of the major Spanish painters of the past years," said the Minister of Culture, and make a statement "spectacular" in October December of this year based in Murcia Valencian Ángel Haro, "one of the artists of the region's most renowned", who will participate from January to March 2009, the Valladolid Eugenio Ampudia, "one of the largest makers of video the contemporary scene ", who will present his work from April to June 2009, the Belgian Monique Bastiaans, known for" working with ever-changing life forms "but whose work can be seen from July to September 2009, and finally, the lorquino Nico Munuera, "one of the leading artists of the Region of Murcia, which will close the show in the last quarter of next year.

This selection reflects the interest of the Department of "insert artists from the region of Murcia in programs that are also participating artists of national and international levels to which the program acquires a large scale and that the artists of the region sit within a context that they can be of great value. "

Interventions may be "subtle" because some of them may be to pick only one of the pictures displayed to place the artist's work, or "spectacular" as it also may speak an entire room, all of which will have generate minimal impact on the collection and that it can be visited at all times, since "it is that the viewer perceives the dialogue perfectly, and tunes the discrepancies between some languages and others," said Cruz.

The main objective of this project is to revitalize the museum.

It is said Cruz, "to offer arguments for which visitors need to return to Mubam as necessary, because the library will acquire a new dimension with the involvement of various artists, so that the museum is always becoming and resulted in a new surprise. "

Also, 'Async', also aims to demonstrate that the distances between the art of past and present "are not as great as at first one might think because, in short, art is what we are talking" and also that "In the case of differences of speech, or language support are perfectly compatible."
