For the 2008/2009 school year ten councils offer a total of 227 activities from the municipal services and facilities in collaboration with different institutions and public and private groups, using the resources offered by the city.

The novelty in the Department of Education for this new course are:

Extracurricular Activities Project
This project responds to the continuing demand by the entire educational community.
It addresses all the centers that perform scheduled and extracurricular activities.
This project is an educational alternative for leisure and recreation of children enrolled in centers and Primary Education, promoting participation and utilization patterns of socio-environmental resources, promoting human values, healthy habits while answers to the problems of families of parents working.
17 activities are offered in 16-hours to 18 hours, and lines of work or thematic blocks are:
Theatre evenings Visitors to the Municipal Auditorium, to participate in various educational events.
Workshops on Science: The students acquire and strengthen knowledge about atoms, matter, light, images ... a practical and interactive.
Learn to ride: The students will learn the rules and behaviors of movement, used in the use of them and creating an attitude of respect and civic responsibility.
We get closer to nature views of the Malecon and Botanical Gardens Garden of Salitre for children discover leisure and recreational areas, knowing the different environments, species ... that are part of the natural and cultural heritage of Murcia.
Museums know: It is intended to instruct in the art through painting, architecture ... knowing cultures and different lifestyles throughout history.
Learning to live: The school aims to provide, through he work in workshops, alternative behaviors to aggressive behavior: negotiating agreements, responsibility for one's actions, communication skills and control, etc.

Until this school year all complementary activities to support curriculum content to schools during school hours, as planned by the Department of Education, were offered only in the morning.

Registration Deadlines
The deadlines for submitting applications for activities during school hours, whether done through the registration forms on paper and via the Internet, to 22 September for the Department of Primary and Oct. 6 for the Centers Bachelor of Secondary Education.
The deadline to apply for extracurricular activities is 8 October.
2007-2008 Annual Balance
The number of schools participating in the planned activities was 176, representing 95% of the total (183) and students who participated were from 63,084 children (14,494), education (33,972) and secondary / high school (14,618).
