Youth supports the work of neighborhood associations and districts with ten cooperation agreements (31/07/2008)

Councillor for Youth and Employment, Dolores Sanchez, has this morning signed cooperation agreements for the operation of 10 local youth organizations in neighborhoods and districts.

The average profile of the 10 nonprofit organizations signatories of these conventions are a youth association with 95 partners from 14 to 29, and 6 in the Board of Directors, all volunteers, conducted annually in 12 activities involved 525 young people (between 16 and 24).

These activities are five training courses and workshops and artistic-creative, four are cultural (projections, theater, conferences, exhibitions), and three are traveling or outdoor activities (camping, camps, etc.) party - concert and sports.

The work of these partnerships are therefore aimed at a group of more than 5,000 young people.

With regard to municipal financial support, the average required by the associations for their work programs is 9,000 euros, giving the municipality, on average, 4,590 euros for each entity, which represents about 50% of the grant requested.

In addition to the annual call for proposals for youth organizations, the operation of the Municipal Center La Nave, young space and Yesqueros Youth Resource Centre, young space, or the Service of Technical Assistance and Training, the Municipality of Murcia, through its Department of Youth, is developing a significant line of work to strengthen youth participation in neighborhoods and districts of the municipality, through the operation of juvenile detention centers in different areas of the municipality.

One of the key areas for action by the Department of Youth and Employment is the Youth Participation, whose basic objective is to provide the youth of the town resources and programs that facilitate their involvement in the development of our city.

The main way of channeling this decentralized action is the establishment of partnerships with youth associations of neighborhoods and districts of our town, for the operation and Local Youth Centers, whose most significant data are:

Line is raised Partnership Agreements for partnerships to develop plans and programs of youth activities, with the characteristic of having an area of priority action in a particular neighborhood or hamlet and also have responsibility for managing a local youth center or as a public facility open to the participation of youth in the area of democratic functioning, pluralistic education based on values of equality, solidarity and tolerance.

These 10 nonprofit organizations undertake to ensure the proper functioning and management of the Youth Center in these ways:

• Opening of the Centre for the participation of young people in your area.

• open and democratic operation, involving as many young people in decision-making on the management of the Centre and schedules of activities.

• Promote young people the educational values of solidarity, tolerance, equality and non discrimination on grounds of sex, race, religion.

• Promote the implementation of activities which seek to prevent risks in the Leisure youth (youth violence, sexually transmitted diseases, unsafe driving of motor vehicles, sexual abuse, abuse of drugs ...)

• Ensure compliance with legally established rules regarding the use and consumption of substances harmful to health, both in relation to illegal drugs and other substances legal.

• Achieve a positive level of relations and coordination with other social and cultural of the area, trying to cause as little inconvenience as possible to the immediate neighbors to the Youth Center in the operation and youth activities conducted therein.

• Encourage the participation and integration of young people who may have any disability, either physical or psychological.

Murcia City Council, through its Department of Youth and Employment, will provide:

Necessary municipal facilities

Human resources to provide the necessary support, training and technical advice.

Financial assistance, the total amount is 45,900 Euros for the development of programs for the 2008 activities

We must highlight the important work of young people in the management of these associations and voluntary, altruistic and supportive way, getting more than 5,000 people participate in activities at local youth centers and neighborhoods and districts in 2008.
