The Parks and Gardens service complete pruning 16,000 trees (17/07/2008)

The Department of Parks and Gardens have already completed the pruning of trees planted in parks, gardens and sidewalks of the municipality.

The campaign began last October and finished in May.

In these eight months have been trimmed 16,000 trees of which 14,000 have been mulberry trees and 1,300 tipuanas.

This is compounded by the pruning is done to 52 large trees (ficus, pine, casuarina and eucalyptus) and some 700 palm trees.

Between mechanical and materials used include a truck with articulated arm, a presser truck, vans and trucks for removal of vehicles and 4 -8 pruning collectors of 16 cubic meters of capacity, 20 chain saws and 16 stairs.

In addition to the human resources needed, a total of 22 people, with their personal protective equipment.

Once the pruning of deciduous species, which has been completed, the Department of Environment and Urban Quality comes to pruning species or semi-evergreen, oranges, and replanted tipuanas jacarandas or flower, as well as harvest and specific care of the lawn.

On the other hand, pruning sent to the treatment plant, where they become reusable compost to fertilize plants.

Within the work of heritage preservation and maintenance of streets and tree gardens, pruning is necessary for some species, in order to reduce his glass in some cases or remove dangerous branches or other nuisance.
