Six city tours show the participation of women in building the history of Murcia (13/02/2016)

The Department of Social Rights, headed Conchita Ruiz Caballero, being developed by the Municipal Equality Programme 2016, which continues the Municipal Plan for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men, which aims to integrate gender equality in the implementation, evaluation and planning municipal activities in the municipality of Murcia.

For this year, are scheduled six routes through the city of Murcia, the first of which will begin on March 12, to show the participation of women in building the history of our city, in culture, art, politics, work and leisure.

The routes of two hours each, from 12:00 to 14:00, are as follows:

1. Behind the Wall.

Both information and registration can be found at the Museum of the City.

For the development of this program, they are participating all municipal services of the City of Murcia, through the Commission for Gender Equality, where positive actions in this area to be developed for each municipal service to achieve equal opportunities are collected between women and men.

Similarly, through the Municipal Council for Equality, in which women's associations and associations for Gender Equality of the municipality, together with representatives of trade unions and political groups of the Corporation participate proposals also set out the Program Municipal Equality 2016.

The offer ranges from awareness-raising and training on conciliation and responsibility aimed at men from a gender perspective, in order to promote the participation of men in care tasks and responsibility in the home;

promote equal participation of women in the workplace and public life;

and training programs for empowerment and employment aimed at women in the municipality, with a presence in all neighborhoods and districts.

The program also includes cultural activities to promote artistic creation of women in the municipality and actions for equal education and prevention of gender violence aimed at students of primary schools and secondary schools;

The program will be completed and approved from the respective sessions of the Municipal Council of Equality to be held on February 23 and Municipal Technical Committee on Gender Equality, scheduled for February 29.
