More than 200 low-income families can rent a home thanks to the help of the City of Murcia (07/02/2016)

Murcia City Council opens the term for people with low income can apply for rent subsidies for housing in the municipality of Murcia and in the districts.

The amount handled by the Department of Education, University Relations and Heritage, directed by Rafael Gomez Carrasco, to help more than 200 families in 2016 is 370,000 euros.

This initiative already granted, according to the mayor recalled, "amounting to 366,000 euros in 2015, benefiting 188 families."

The aim of this initiative, said Gomez Carrasco, "is to enable families enrolled in the register of housing applicants access to adequate housing on a rental basis."

Thus, "these aids become a quick alternative to offer residency to families on the waiting list for access to municipal housing," said the mayor.

Starting on Feb. 8 may apply for rent subsidies and have to meet among others the following requirements:

• Be enrolled in the Registry of Applicant Municipal Housing.

• Annual revenues of the family unit comprised between 0.5 and 2.5 the IPREM.

• Be registered in the municipality of Murcia during the three years preceding the date of application (except victims of domestic violence).

• The annual rent of the leased housing should exceed 25 percent of the annual income of the family unit.

Providing rental assistance to housing that is provided through the Housing Service is between a minimum of 25 percent and a maximum of 75 percent of the rental price, not to exceed 2,609 per year.

The main groups that benefit from the aid are women victims of domestic violence, single parents and families evicted from their residence.

These aids are joined by those for the Department of Social Rights, called 'Municipal Financial Aid for Social Care Needs', that during 2015 to 1937 granted a total of 2,094,727, 23 euros.

So, cover basic food, special diets, rental, repair or adaptation of residence, acquisition of basic equipment, energy consumption, water, purchase and repair of glasses, orthotics and prosthetics, additional technical assistance and other urgent and serious need .
