The book, "Last meeting in the Mediterranean", was presented yesterday at the Faculty of Law of the University of Murcia (UMU) by the rector of the institution, José Orihuela, and the coordinator of the volume and, at that time, organizer this Congress, Professor Victorino Polo.

The book opens with a discussion that closed the symposium, a dialogue between Vargas Llosa and Professor Polo, who described the publication as the "closing of a story that began 25 years ago with the novelist's first visit to the University of Murcia" .

Victorino Polo evoked during the presentation of Vargas Llosa those visits to Murcia, which coincided with the celebration in the city's literary cycles "Close Encounters of the Mediterranean hence the title of the book and the prize for novel of the name of the writer.

"From the second edition, this award became, after the planet, in the award with more participants of all calls in Spanish," added the professor emeritus of the University of Murcia.

UMU was the first Spanish university to grant this award to Peruvian writer.

This fact was highlighted by Prof. Conrado Navalón, former director of Editum, who said the coordinator of the work as the architect of this appointment so as to place Murcia as a reference in studies of Vargas Llosa during the presentation.

The rector, José Orihuela, thanked Victorino Polo by maintaining close links with the Nobel Murcia and UMU, because "for this to happen you have to take a deep intellectual contact with someone here."
