The PSOE demands coordination between Murcia City Council and Ministry of Agriculture to combat the processionary (01/02/2016)

The councilor of the Municipal Socialist Group, Susana Hernandez has claimed that the city of Murcia and the Ministry of Agriculture should coordinate their efforts in the fight against the plague of processionary affecting large areas of the municipality.

"This coordination is essential, above all, to know what areas of forest are being treated for treatments while those upcoming municipal areas where there are pine trees, in order to make them more effective the two performances," he said the socialist mayor.

The Municipal Socialist Group has echoed the concern of many residents between the appearance of the plague, very visible in areas close to the mountains in various areas and districts this year is ahead by several months as warm temperatures recorded.

Specifically, days before it became apparent wounds suffered a girl in Cabezo de Torres by a falling bag procesionaria, or the risk that pets also suffer as a case detected in Canadas de San Pedro.

Susana Hernández believes that the city of Murcia must have specific crews to act in municipal areas where there pines, "and above all we must insist on the necessary coordination with the technicians of Agriculture to combat the plague."

The pine processionary is a lepidopteran or butterfly known for their stinging caterpillars, which at the beginning of the spring characteristic abandon their pockets, forming a procession one after the other, to bury in the ground, pupate and complete their metamorphosis.
