"Society needs to have ethical standards as associations representing patients with rare diseases," said today the Mayor, José Ballesta, at the opening of the Eighth Congress which was held this morning at the Jeronimos Monastery UCAM organized by the Association of Rare Diseases D'Genes in collaboration with the delegation in Murcia of the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases (FEDER) and the Association of Relatives and Affected Lipodystrophies (AELIP).
Ballesta highlighted the "sacrifice, effort, faith, perseverance, struggle and overcoming" showing families and patients of these rare diseases at the same time, convey a "hopeful" feeling.
The Eighth National Congress for Rare Diseases, held in Murcia until Sunday, began with the testimony of patients and mothers of patients who shared with the audience their own experiences.
They have also participated in the opening, along with the Mayor, the President of the Autonomous Community, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, Ruben Moreno and President of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza .
