The City of Murcia, through the Department of Social Rights and the collaboration of the Department of Planning, Environment and Huerta, celebrating the first International Day of Rural Women on October 15, with a conference in the challenges and opportunities of women in the garden and the countryside, and that the assistance of a hundred women from associations and women's centers and is planned vegetable garden clubs will be analyzed.
These seminars aim to draw attention to the role of women in Murcia, in the garden and the countryside, and opportunities they face and to facilitate a meeting between the various associations of women in the municipality, and publicize projects to empower them in these rural areas.
The event, to be held in the Auditorium of Algezares, also serve to analyze the impact of TIC`s in promoting women and equal opportunities and the role of the City of Murcia in this process.
Likewise, experiences and some women work in the garden and various projects Murciana Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (OMEP) will be exhibited,
According to the Councillor for Social Rights, "it is an opportunity to make visible women in rural areas, and the various challenges it faces;
his identity and present the different tools to advance equality of opportunity, not only in relation to men but also for women in other more urban areas ".
"We must build momentum to support and ensure the empowerment of rural women so that they can claim the rights they deserve and fully enjoy the benefits of development."
Finally, Ruiz Caballero recalled that, at present, "a collaboration agreement remains with 75 associations, 60 of them being located in or near Campo Huerta de Murcia".
