The Governing Board of the City of Murcia, has approved an amount of 16,000 euros to carry out the 'Service for implementing the program for the promotion of physically activity groups 4/40', for the population of the municipality of Murcia.
Specifically 4/40 program is the creation of groups of citizens protected by a monitor for physical exercise (walking 4 days / 40 minutes) in their immediate environment (neighborhood or district).
At present more than 600 people walk in any of the 14 groups 4/40 from the town and districts.
The evaluation of the program shows a decrease in weight, significant decreases in cholesterol and glucose, and an improvement in blood pressure levels.
The most significant of the program in relation to the profile of the participating groups, the reasons that lead to the regular practice of physical activity and the degree of satisfaction with the program when data are: 71 percent are between 51 and 70 years of those, 78 percent are women and 22 percent men.
The reasons for Murcia perform physical activity are fundamentally improving its health, hypertension, circulation problems, type 2 diabetes, obesity, stress.
67 percent involved medical advice, the remaining 37 percent do so on their own initiative, motivated by maintaining and expanding their neighborhood and community ties.
In its evaluation of the participants on clinical parameters (blood pressure, weight, height, waist circumference, body fat) features a BMI of 27.8, so the practice of regular physical activity has a direct impact on improving these thanks to the program parameters.
The satisfaction of the participants is very high, their perception of improving your health, both physical, mental and social is significant.
80 participants in the program is very satisfied and highly value the role of the monitors that accompany them one day a week.
