The City Council invites Murcia to hand in bicycles that do not use so that they are rehabilitated and donated to NGOs (03/10/2015)

Murcia City Council encourages Murcia to donate bicycles no longer use to be rehabilitated and given to NGOs working in the municipality.

The Councillor for Traffic, Lola Sanchez, explained that "this campaign is threefold:. Give a second life to those bikes that we no longer use, encourage the use of bicycles and contribute to a social cause Thus we recycle, we contribute to improve the environment and help those who need it most "

This initiative, part of Recicleta Project seeks to Murcia that have a bicycle that no longer use and want to give a new life to contact with the Municipal Office of the Bicycle proceed to charge, collect and repair restarting and circulation.

Although this project is aimed at residents in the municipality of Murcia, beneficiaries residing in another municipality can deliver your bike to be rehabilitated open from 8:30 to 21:00 hours at the offices of the Municipal Office the bicycle.

So far, the project Recicleta the Municipal Office of the Bicycle allowed to value 31 bikes that were abandoned in the reservoir of the local police, later to be donated to people from different groups at risk of exclusion.

NGOs collaborating in this project are Coordinator neighborhoods of El Palmar, CEPAIM Foundation Columbares Association, Association Meeting Point, Abraham Project Foundation Board Jesus Forsaken and Caritas.

Thus, once the legal time elapsed two-month stay of bicycles in police custody, the Municipal Office of the Bicycle removed from the impound, the repaired and put back in value and performance.

Management and distribution to NGOs is completed following the guidelines established by the Department of Social Rights of the Municipality of Murcia.
