The main role of women in caring for the family with schizophrenia is one of the main drivers in the doctoral thesis developed at the School of Nursing at the University of Murcia by Isidora Diaz Garcia.
The findings, which has achieved a rating of outstanding cum laude, also point out that "the biggest load experienced observed in the areas of concern for the sick person and assisting in the activities of everyday life itself."
The charge level adds the thesis, is greater at the beginning of the disease later developed an adaptation process which involves the acceptance of the disease and the resignation to the situation that exists.
Also it states that the average number of years that caregivers spend caring for their sick relative is between 10.62 years and 15.34 years, and 70 percent spend more than four hours a day with their sick relative.
The thesis was supervised by professors at the University of Concepcion Rivera Rocamora Murcia and Miguel Angel Canovas Thomas.
