The Union of Public Employees SIME wants to denounce working conditions of some units of local police in Murcia serving in the street, especially the group of bikers, versatile and neighborhoods, which are required to work throughout the working day or motorcycle standing, even in the days in which the orange alert was declared in the region.
The former councilor Security sent in May this year an internal communication to the Chief Inspector of Local Police with several recommendations to prevent heat stroke.
As these recommendations are not put into practice, the SIME reapply on July 2 to the new deputy mayor of Traffic Safety and Civil Protection measures are taken to prevent heat stress and heat stroke in this service .
Both the Chief of Police as the new Councillor inform us that these recommendations have been made known to all staff.
To date, there are policemen who are still working on a motorcycle with temperatures reaching 50 degrees, as an officer violates the guidelines transmitted daily by the corporation and the local police chief, expressly ordered that only bikes while still in use orange alert, not facilitating the use of available vehicles parked in police stations.
Furthermore, the new safety campaign requires players to wear the reflective vest plastic from 19:00, which contradicts the recommendations given to avoid heat stress agents.
Due to these circumstances, we have requested a new meeting urgently with the deputy mayor of Traffic Safety and Civil Protection, for this situation to be resolved soon.
