Two projects beautify the Plaza de San Julián and the Plaza de la Candelaria (15/05/2015)

The Department of Environment will execute two projects of management of Plaza San Julian and Pilar Street and the Plaza de la Candelaria in Santa Eulalia.

In Piazza San Julian will proceed to install street furniture, located strategically transform the current character of the square, making it a nicer area.

Thus, vegetable elements located in baskets to be placed on metal trees, and tree planters, specially designed for the historic environment of Murcia will be used.

In all five elements of this type are placed in the Plaza de San Julián with the function of creating a visual background plant to its most emblematic buildings.

In addition, four cubic planters will be installed at the Pillar, providing a continuity to San Julian and marking a journey to San Pedro or Veronicas.

The design chosen planters will be made in steel plate, with a geometric and irregular shape that reproduces the medieval street of Murcia.

What is intended is to beautify this area by establishing a continuity with other nearby attractions, such as San Pedro and Veronicas, enhancing pedestrian connection through an attractive route.

For its part, it aims to beautify the Plaza de la Candelaria Santa Eulalia, giving a design and aesthetic sense through plant elements that highlight the values ​​of this space

To do this, vegetal elements with a multiple function are introduced: In linear composition, two Mediterranean palms indicate the path of the Plaza de Santa Eulalia with the visual background of its leaning tower, while in the square, a semi-enclosed seven-ordination orange, vegetable screen will create a space defining the stay.

On the back of the church, around the apse and with views of the Tower of the Cathedral, a bed of shrubs that will highlight the brick building volumes become available.

In addition, a partial treatment of existing cobblestone pavement will be done by cleaning and replacement of parts to achieve a greater unity of the whole.

As for street furniture benches, planters and bins series designed spatially to the historic atmosphere of Murcia they will be placed.

In both projects over 45,000 euros will be invested and will be executed by Construcciones Urdecon within two months
