2015 Zarzuela Cycle brings seven performances at Romea (27/03/2015)

'The African duo' is represented for the first time in Murcia |

The Romea Theatre, in collaboration with the Lyric Company of Zarzuela, offered from 6 to 10 April 2015 Cycle Zarzuela, within the schedule of Spring Festival.

The cycle begins Monday April 6 with 'La Gran Vía' Federico Chueca libretto by Felipe Pérez, work composed of five short sketches, which deals with the comments raised in Madrid by the eminent appearance of a new avenue;

and 'The unruly' Ruperto Chapi, libretto by José López Silva and Guillermo Fernández Shaw, taking place in a neighboring yard in a deeply castizo environment.

On Tuesday April 7, Day Bando de la Huerta, as usual, will be the turn of the famous Murcia zarzuela 'The Clubbing' by Francisco Alonso and libretto by Luis Fernández Ardavin, a work of simple plot and popular music Murcia sings the beauty of landscape, the nobility of its people, and the deep roots of their traditions.

'The Song of the Horsemen', which places its action in Zamora lands late nineteenth century in a roadside inn, comes in the form of two acts on Wednesday 8 April.

It is the work of Fernando Diaz Giles, with libretto by Serafín Adame and Adolfo Torrado.

The novelty highlights this year is 'The African duo', set in the fifties, which chronicles the adventures of a modest opera company.

Zarzuela in an act, divided into three frames, with music by Manuel Fernández Caballero and libretto by Miguel Echegaray, premiered with great success at the Apollo Theatre in Madrid on May 13, 1893.

This is the first time that 'African duo' depicted in Murcia and will do next to 'La Dolorosa', operetta in two acts, with music by the Spanish composer José Serrano and libretto by Juan Jose Lorente.

This work, performed at the Apollo Theater in Valencia on May 23, 1930, reflects boxes and typically Aragonese customs.

Both will be heard on April 9.

The cycle ends on Friday 10 'La Leyenda del Beso' zarzuela in three acts with libretto by Enrique Reoyo, José Silva and Antonio Paso, set in the park of a baronial castle in Castilian lands.

Libretto by Enrique Reoyo, José Aramburu and Antonio Silva Paso, and music teachers Reveriano Soutullo and Juan Vert, premiered with great success at the Apollo Theatre in Madrid on January 18, 1924.

Prices representations range from 15 to 35 euros.

Viewers will be able to benefit from a 10% discount on the purchase of 3 functions and 20% in case of 5. Tickets can be purchased at the theater box office or online www.teatroromea.es.
