Publish research of Professor Martínez Carrión on the height of Murcia in the nineteenth century (27/03/2015)

A study by Professor of the University of Murcia José Miguel Martínez Carrión, which analyzes the relationship between height of Murcia nineteenth and economic indicators contained in the collection of essays on the history of health and wellness in the last three centuries, published by Edward Elgar Publishing.

This work of Martinez Carrion, originally published by the University of Chicago, shows that size is a measure of net nutrition and its evolution reflects both diet and disease.

Professor studies the welfare and health from male height in the context of poverty and endemic diseases (such as malaria) of vegetable gardens and orchards of the nineteenth century.

In addition to showing the existence of cycles height linked to the joints, the trial suggests the relationship between low heights and malaria, and between illness and low agricultural productivity.

Professor at the University of Murcia is the only Spanish author of the cited work, which includes the most influential works on the history of health and wellness written between 1934 and 2008.

The book contains, among others, tests of the Nobel Prize in Economics Theodore W. Schultz, Robert W. Fogel and Amartya Sen.
