The municipalities adhere have one month to present their plan of adjustment.
The Ministry of Finance, through the General Secretariat of Regional and Local Coordination, has regulated the conditions of access to local entities.
The new funding mechanism responds to the demands raised by the Local Finance Committee of the FEMP, meeting this morning under the chairmanship of Mayor of Murcia.
Only 2.7% of Spanish municipalities may join the Fund Regulation of the Ministry of Finance established to cater to the municipalities that have economic problems within the Financing Fund local entities.
These 219 municipalities, which have a population of just over 2.7 million people, are in a situation of financial risk and have a period of one month to submit an adjustment plan and apply for membership.
The estimated savings for local entities involved in the new funding mechanism reaches 189 million euros.
House, chairman of the Committee on Farms and Local Financing the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, has very much appreciated the initiative approved by the General Secretariat of Regional and Local Coordination because "it fits the demands from the FEMP to help local authorities experiencing severe financial difficulties ".
