The executive vice president of the European Border Agency Frontex gave the inaugural lecture

The Catholic University of Murcia, through its Degree in Criminology, inaugurated this afternoon the First International Congress of Criminology 'Transnational Organised Crime and Fundamental Rights', and will continue during the day tomorrow, Friday.

The executive vice president of the European Border Agency Frontex, Gil Arias Fernández, gave the keynote address in which he lectured on the agency he represents as a European institution for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders, and the which has focused on the problem of illegal immigration.

Gil Arias said that "the internationalization of crime is the scourge of the century", and stressed the need to respect the fundamental rights of the individual.
