The spokesman for IU-Greens in the city of Murcia, Esther Herguedas today held that "finally" the government team of PP, has decided to convene the Municipal Equality Council to hold its inaugural meeting on 19 February.

The mayor noted that the creation of the City Council, conceived as an organ of involvement of different associations of women in the municipality, which also features the presence of groups with presence in Parliament, is one of the measures contained in the Plan equality 2010-2012 which was approved in February 2010.

The IU-Greens spokesman noted that since that date the municipal group has continued to request the establishment of this body.

It did so in a motion filed in July 2010 by producing an undertaking to convene groups of the Corporation to establish the approaches and composition.

"The process was developed so slowly that it was not until May 2012, in the time limit of the Plan, when finally the House approved the creation of this body. Since then, little has been moved, although the current legislative session, councilor of the Popular Party has been carrying almost exclusively women's affairs and equality. "
