The Mayor of Murcia and president of the Network of Cities for Bicycle (RCxB), Miguel Angel House, attended this morning in Madrid to the constitution of the Parliamentary Group of the Bicycle, created with the objective to work towards a better and greater use of bicycles for urban travel by citizens.
The group, whose coordinator is the socialist deputy Odon Elorza, is initially composed of the following members: Martín González Telmo, Concha Bravo and Miriam White People's Party;
Juan Carlos Corcuera, Antonio Hurtado, Paloma Rodriguez and Mariví Cediel the Socialist Party;
Pere Macia, Jordi Jané and Carme Sayós Convergence and Union;
Ricardo Sanz Alvaro Remon Sixto and the Plural Left, Joseba Agirretxea the PNV and Joan Baldoví on behalf of the Joint Group.
The meeting, held at the Congress of Deputies, has been attended by representatives of the different parliamentary groups and entities that are part of the National Board of the Bicycle (MNB), composed, among other members of the Network Cities for Cycling, chaired by the Mayor of Murcia- which groups 100 cities and transport entities that promote the presence of bicycles in the city.
The MNB also umbrella associations everyday users, cyclists, cyclists amateur and professional sports and the business sector and lawyers interested in cycling.
At this first meeting, we have established a set of tasks and commitments over the coming months with special attention to the Rules of the road, the need for a Director of the Bike Plan in Spain and the convenience of the parties included in their electoral programs claims the world of cycling.
The ultimate goal is to turn the bike on a daily urban transport mode.
