The University of Murcia, in collaboration with four other Spanish universities, has launched the Platform LEO (eBooks Online) for academic exchanges and sharing of electronic books.
The publisher of the University of Murcia, Editum participates up to the platform eBooks catalog and sharing them with the universities of Burgos, Cadiz, Salamanca and Santiago, offering users of the five institutions scientific exchange and free loan published works.
The University Library, meanwhile, has introduced a system of selection and acquisition of e-books, especially aimed at undergraduate and Masters, to be available to users with a similar performance to loan paper.
The initial collection of the library consists of 800 copies, which will be expanded with successive purchases made.
The loan e-books can be done through the website of the Library or directly in http://leo.um.es
The LEO platform is a pioneering project of the Union of University Publishers (UNE) and the Network of Spanish University Libraries (REBIUN).
The platform was presented today at the Rector of the University of Murcia in a ceremony attended by the rector, José Orihuela, and the Vice Chancellor of Communication and Culture, José Antonio Gómez, and where it has also submitted the renewal of page Main Site of the educational institution.
With the new cover seeks to update the design and the technologies used, integrate the main corporate web page manager Liferay and improve navigation on mobile devices.
It also aims to provide faster access to the different sections and respond to information and communication needs of the university community identified in recent years.
The presentation ceremony was also attended by the coordinators of the Publications Service, Carmen González;
Library, Juan Antonio Pastor, and the Web, Jesualdo Fernández.
