Professor of Ethics at the University of Valencia Adela Cortina;
Professor of American Harvard Zion I. Leonard and actress Margarita Lozano have been named honorary doctorates from the University of Murcia by agreement of the Cloister of this educational institution.
During the Senate meeting held in the auditorium, Merced campus, Secretary of the University, Santiago Alvarez, presented the report of the academic year 2013-2014, in which it is stated that the number of male students representing 39 percent of the total, while 61 percent are women.
The document also echoes of the main activities carried out along the course and outcome of teaching cultural, research and developed by the institution.
For its part, the Defender of the University, Professor José Palazón, showed the memory of this service, in which it is stated that during the course were filed 365 complaints and suggestions and where, also, a series of contained recommendations.
Palazón also referred to the impact it is having on many students budget cuts that have affected scholarships.
In its report, the rector, José Orihuela said that the cost of the coordinators has been reduced by over 10 percent and has advanced considerably in the desire to achieve parity between women and men in high positions.
Regarding the economic situation, the rector explained that the ceiling increase spending two million euros is insufficient, but expressed confidence that negotiations with the Autonomous Community will allow to have increased funding for the University.
The rector and vice-rector of Coordination and Internationalisation, Bernardo Cascales, presented the Action Plan for next year, in which more than 140 lines of activity are contemplated and which called for proposals and suggestions.
