A new web design allows citizens in real time the best route to reach a destination (23/07/2014)

The www.mutrans.es portal shows users the best routes by bus, tram or bike to move from one point to another municipality.

Thirteen cameras show live traffic conditions to choose the most direct path and a smooth flow and reports generated CO2 emissions.

A key to improving urban mobility have information element is the actual traffic situation and the alternatives offered by public transport.

To address both issues, the city of Murcia has launched a comprehensive platform, www.mutrans.es, offering the user multiple applications that address any questions that might arise when planning a move.

Thus, knowledge is provided so that drivers can make their decisions.

The new portal was presented this morning by the Mayor, Miguel Angel House, accompanied by the Councillor for Traffic and Transport, Javier Iniesta, who has been the department responsible for promoting this tool, along with the area of ​​European Programmes, since it has Mobisec project financing.

The main section of the website, which has been created by Accesium, UMU, allows queries about public transportation from point of origin to destination and get results of different routes depending on the travel time and environmental impact, including combining transfers between buses Murcia Transport, Tram and Bus Latbus.

The consultations also show the cycling and walking paths.

The platform shows you the best route according to the different modes of transport, estimated duration, distance and CO2 emissions.

Its implementation meets the objective of the City to promote the use of urban public transport "favoring a more rational urban mobility," said House.

In addition to access quick and convenient to public transportation, www.mutrans.es reports on the traffic on the main roads of the town and to this end, 13 traffic control cameras in different avenues of the city were installed:

The site includes an FAQ section where you answer, among other questions, if you can take your bike on the tram or city where the bond is purchased.

It has also created a news section with the latest developments relating to public transport and traffic in the town.

The tool is funded 50% by the MOBISEC, Sustainable Mobility Initiatives European communities European project, led by the city of Murcia and involving two other European cities in the UK and Bulgaria.
