The City Council awards the school they want to be responsible drivers and pedestrians (17/06/2014)

The Mayor delivered the awards to the winners of the Local Competition XXV Driver Education and Accident Prevention.

4,509 students from 55 schools participated in this new edition.

In its 25 year history, nearly 84,000 students have participated in this event, which aims to train good drivers for the future.

83,837 youth 3rd grade secondary have learned to be better users of public roads, either as a driver, pedestrian or traveler, by participating in the Local Competition Driver Education and Accident Prevention.

The contest, which was launched during 1989 to 1990, claims that schoolchildren in the municipality in the future are good conductors, respectful of traffic rules and road safety.

On this XXV edition 4,509 students have participated in the 3rd of Secondary Education -14 and 15-55 schools.

The Mayor, Miguel Angel House, presided this morning the awards to the winners.

The event, held at the Plenary Hall, was attended by the mayors of Education and Human Resources and Security, Lola Sanchez and Nuria Fuentes, respectively.

Provide learning and enforcing traffic regulations and promote awareness raising and prevention of accidents are the basic objectives of this initiative, the reason being is that schools today are good drivers in the future.

And some should practice this skill and, since 14 years have the possibility to use a moped.

The contest starts young in knowledge of the rules and signs and offers advice concerning your driving (speed, clearance, driving under the influence of alcohol) and the elements essential to do so safely (helmet, maintenance of tires, lights, brakes ...).

The contest began last March and ended on 27 May.

After the 1st stage, 414 students from 138 teams qualified.

The second phase was held on May 8 in the auditorium of Local Police, where 122 teams with 366 students is presented.

The third and final phase accessed 9 teams with 27 students.
