Environmental volunteers this weekend looking alien species in the River Segura and Contraparada (03/04/2014)

The Department of Environment, directed Adela Martinez-Cache, preparing for this weekend environmental volunteer activity that is focused on the development of techniques in wildlife mop Contraparada and Segura River.

This is a free activity and intended for general public, in collaboration with the Association of Southeast Naturalist (anse).

Will run from 10 to 14 and interested persons will have previously register with the Office of Volunteering (Calle Alejandro Síequer), phone 968 212518 or email voluntariadomurcia@ecopatrimonio.es

Volunteers / as learn techniques of camera traps and perform sampling and freshwater macroinvertebrates in different parts of the Segura River in the stretch between La Contraparada and the urban environment of the city of Murcia.

With these samples is to know the status of the fauna associated with the Segura river to detect, for example, the possible presence of exotic species.

During the two year life of the program activities Volunteer Ambienta, through the initiative We pineapple!, About 70 people have joined the local volunteer program.

The objectives of environmental volunteer program are:

- Promote public awareness and participation in conservation of protected areas in the municipality of Murcia.

- Connect to different groups, organizations, associations and others for a common interest.

- Link the environmental cultural, historical and ethnographic heritage to present in Murcia.

- Maintain and better, by raising awareness of the values ​​that make these places protected areas.
